From the death bed to world beaters

July 3, 2010

When I last commented, the Reds were on the verge of fading quietly into the sunset and out of the N.L. Central/Wild Card races.  But as fate would have it in roll the hapless Indians and struggling Phillies.

If you were circling a road trip for the Reds that could be make or break the current trip would be the one.  As a matter of fact the Reds don’t play at home until July 16 and only play 9 games at home the entire month, so this month is make or break.

Enter the Cubs.

The last two days have proven one thing.  The Reds can beat teams worse than them, and that is what the Cubs are.

As I was watching the end of today’s beat down I couldn’t help but smile.

Not only because the Reds clobbered the team I hate most, but Reds fans have decided to take it to the Cubs at their home park, just like Cubs fans have been doing to the Reds for years.  It was awesome.

As the Reds headed to the dugout after the game, throngs of followers cheered the team’s 8th victory in 10 games.  I am with those that followed the Reds to Chicago…cheer loudly and enjoy it, the Reds might just be for real.
